Social listening

1.  I selected Dell technology company as my brand. People have mixed reviews of dell. Some say they are fast, reliable computers and others say they were not as reliable or too expensive.

2.  The reason I choose Dell, was because I have am a Dell consumer, Dell laptops have always been what I have used, so I was interested to research more about the company and see what others are saying.

3. Dell's value proposition is to provide customers with custom PC's at an affordable price that is below competitors prices.

4. Looking at the reviews of the brand some people had good experience and others did not. One person who rated Dell with 5 stars explained how they have always bought Dell laptops and the quality and price were both good. Another person who rated Dell with 5 stars stated he was impressed with how long his computer worked for. Although other people had bad experiences with Dell. This specific person explained how customer service over the phone was not of any use, and not fix the problem or answer the question.

6.  The marketing challenge of this brand is the competition. Lots of companies are making laptops, so Dell's market challenge is to figure out how to keep their customers loyal and to gain future customers  by making their products better, or more unique compared to their competitors.

7. In the reviews I looked at they did not respond to the reviews. I think it would have better to respond to the negative reviews to see if you can resolve the issue the customer was having, that way you do not lose a customer to your competitors.

8.  If I was brand manager I would respond to them and have them explain what their issue was. I then would try to help them with the issue and figure a resolution for the issue they were having.

Marketing in the news

I chose this article, because I’m brand loyal to Sony PlayStation consoles. These are the consoles I've always played games on, so this article about their marketing strategy interested me.This article discusses what Sony has done to market the release of their new gaming system the PS5, and how it relates to what their competitors are doing. The value proposition of Sony is to provide gaming consoles to their customers. Sony’s biggest problem or issue is the video gaming world has a lot of options and competitors for people to choose from. Like the Xbox or Wii for example..In this specific article it talks about Sony's marketing technique for their new PS5 console. Unlike its competitors, Sony does not market their new PS5 console very much. Instead what they do is release tidbits of information one at a time. This makes the audience crave more information. When Sony releases more aspects of the PS5 console it garners massive attention because it doesn't happen often. The marketing relevance in this article would be the release of their new gaming console, and a new marketing strategy. If I was the brand manager I probably would do more advertising of the new console to hopefully get more people to learn about the console, and try to get them to switch to PlayStation. Sony’s marketing technique has worked pretty good for them so far.  They seem to have lots of people talking and excited about the upcoming release of the PS5. What I learned from this article, is that more marketing is not always better. You would think the more marketing you have out the better, but that's not always the case .In the article it discussed how Sony’s competitors seem to have more ads out and try to market their products more, but in the end Sony seems to get the most attention with their advertising. This is because Sony does not share many details or advertise their consoles much, and you realize when they do share something or release information it is a big deal.

Introduction

My name is Braydon Mills. I am currently a sophomore at LBCC. After this year is over I plan on transferring to a four year university to pursue my business degree. What i'm most looking forward to in this class is learning about advertising, and learning about what people are interested in. The reason I want to learn this is because I enjoy learning about people and what advertisements work the best. My interests outside of school are mostly sports. I love watching and playing sports, such as football, basketball, baseball, golf. Another hobby of mine is traveling. I like to visit places I've never been, and learn a little the places I visit.
